The Art of Audrey Kawasaki.

Surfing the web usually means plowing your way through lots of crap. Every once in awhile you come across something so amazing it just stops you in your tracks. Saturday afternoon, during one of my many breaks from studying, I was doing what I probably spend way too much time doing. I was b.s.ing and surfing the web. This would not be your ordinary b.s. session.
Somehow, I suddenly found myself mousing my way through an incredible collection of oil paintings done on wood, pen and ink drawings, watercolors and mixed media sketches created by Audrey Kawasaki. Ms. Kawasaki was a student at the Pratt Institute in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. I lived a few blocks away from Pratt when I moved back home from Tokyo. I attended a lot of parties and saw quite a few exhibitions there. The school has a sterling reputation for producing impeccable fine artists and Audrey Kawasaki is no exception.
Her work can be seen up close and personal in a show this month, from September 8th – October 1st at the Nucleus Gallery in Alhambra, CA that also features Fuco Ueda and next month she has a solo show at the Yves Laroche L’Autre Galerie in Montreal. That exhibition opens on Halloween night. Stop by her site and feast your eyes on her great work.
