You gotta give it to him, the kid does rock this song. He doesn’t over-sing it as some have in the past. Of the many versions that followed the Donny Hathaway original, this is one of the best, if not the best. It has earned a permanent spot in my holiday music collection along side Donny, Etta, Nat & Mariah. Enjoy.

CHRIS BROWN “This Christmas”.
December 9, 2007More On The Chris Brown Daddy Story.
October 21, 2007I’ve been reading different stories on this Chris Brown’s a dad-to-be issue. Not really sure why I even bothered, but, I guess since I mentioned it here I should conclude by presenting the different angles on it.
According to one source on Digg, Chris Brown says it’s not true at all. According to yet another story, this one on gossip blog mediatakeout, not only is it true, but the woman is actually a 33 year old music industry employee who already has three kids. They met in New Orleans after an Essence Magazine event, she says, again, according to mediatakeout, that she doesn’t believe in abortion and will have the baby in about three months.
Now I don’t know what to believe. As they say, somewhere between it all lies the truth. At least for those who care. Still, there is a precautionary tale in it for young men and women alike. As I said before, the mantra should be “no glove, no love”. This is as much the price of fame as it is the price of youth, I guess. That poor dude. I am so glad I don’t have those problems.
Chris Brown To Be A Dad?
October 19, 2007I’ve mentioned before how my co-workers bombard my ears with top forty radio for the entire day, well, today – some time between Umbrella and Kiss, Kiss – the top forty DJ on Power 95 (or whatever the hell they call it in Atlanta) announced that Chris Brown, the R&B lothario who’s currently on tour in Japan, got somebody’s little girl knocked up. She’s six months pregnant and they’re going to be parents.
Holy moly. Talk about babies having babies. What’s up with kids today? Didn’t ya’ll ever hear the phrase “no glove, no love“? Or am I really showing my 90s colors here? It’s cool that they are being responsible and all. Plus, it’s not like he just got promoted to making fries at Mickey D’s or anything. The dude’s got money, but, they are both so damn young (according to the report, she’s the same age as him). One minute you’re one of AOL’s Sexiest Single Men In Music, the next your shopping for diapers along with your acne cream.
UPDATE: Because this post seems to be getting so many reads lately (why, I don’t know) I felt the need to do this…
First of all, do you you young ladies not see the question mark (looks like this: ?) in the title of the post? I’m a music fan, obviously, because this blog (blog, not newspaper) focuses on my love of music, fashion, Tokyo and nightlife. The question mark means I was questioning what I’d heard. The over all tone of the post suggested, no, pretty damn much, spelled out my shock and disappointment at this, which, I was hoping wasn’t true, but as I said, it’s not like he’s making fries or bagging groceries for a living. IF it was true, he at least, could afford to raise a kid.
I was interested enough to find out more on this, which I posted about a few days later. Click here.
Whether or not it happened, is not that relevant. What’s important is that young people realize the importance of hard work and a sound education. Looking at some of the comments here, I think some of you need redirect some of that time and energy you focus on Chris Brown into spelling and grammar and reading comprehension. Seriously.
It’s cool that you appreciate the young man and his music and all, but the chances of you marrying him are fairly minimal. Regardless, you should want to stand on your own merits, be strong powerful women and totally self efficient. You don’t need any man to define who you are and what your worth is in life. Dig it?
ATTENTION: From this moment forward January 6 12:46 PM any comment with profanity in it will be deleted. I believe in free speech and freedom of expression, but hey, this is MY blog and I am starting to really get offended and annoyed. You can agree, you can disagree, you can express your feelings even if those feelings are anger and outrage, but you can not piss me off and the only way you can do that is using foul language; especially since I know most of you live at home with Mom & Dad and they don’t want you speaking that way. You have been notified.
And once again, Learn how to spell (or use a spell checker, for crying out loud) and stop mangling english grammar.
